Support for The American Place Theatre
“Not only are these inspiring presentations entertaining, they also do so much to spark a lifelong passion for reading in their audiences.”
~Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City
Adopt-a-School: Keep Literature Alive! Your gift in support of Literature to Life will bring literature alive on stages and in classrooms across the country. In addition to sparking a life-long love of reading and promoting overall academic achievement, you will be helping us empower kids to find their own voices through literature. Through our Adopt-a-School program, we are able to provide free and subsidized programming to underserved schools in New York City and across the country. In this era of drastic budget cuts to both the arts and education, your support will bring this exciting program to those students throughout the US who need it most. Gifts are fully tax-deductible, and we encourage circles of friends, families, or groups of co-workers to Adopt-a-School together!
Ways You Can Give
FRIEND - $1,000
Gifts from our Friends each provide teacher training, teaching artist stipend support, and classroom curriculum for 60 students (two classrooms) in New York City.
In thanks, you’ll receive:
- Acknowledgement on our website and in our programs;
- A monthly patron newsletter to keep you up to date on our programs;
- An invitation for two to join us at our annual Literature to Life Back-to-School reception.
SUPPORTER – $2,500
By becoming a Supporter, you will enable us to tour Literature to Life performances and programming to one of our partner schools across the nation, reaching an average of 200 students per school. Your gift will provide a signature Literature to Life performance and discussion, individual teacher workshops, and in-class experiences with our Master Teaching Artists.
As a thank you, in addition to the above you will receive:
- The opportunity to observe a classroom experience led by one of our Master Teaching Artists;
- An invitation to attend a closed rehearsal of a performance and talkback with the artists.
LEADER - $5,000
Giving at the Leader level helps subsidize a single extended Residency. Literature to Life customizes each residency to meet the unique needs of the community, it’s students and teachers, and prepares through meetings between our artistic staff, educators and principals to tailor lesson plans and create materials in consultation with local teachers; and the basic expenses of artists stipends, support, and travel.
In addition to the above, as a thank you for your support you will receive:
- The chance to become a Teaching Artist for a day, which allows you to take part in our acclaimed Teaching Artist Training and join one of our Master Artists as they lead a classroom experience;
- The opportunity to host a Creative Arts Workshop for a group of friends or co-workers, scheduled in association with and provided by APT.
CHAMPION – $10,000
In addition to residency preparation required for a single extended residency, Champion gifts also allow us to create partnerships with local organizations across the country. These partnerships provide a unique element to our residencies, giving us the opportunity to engage community leaders and individuals in the Literature to Life process and involve the entire community in the experience.
In appreciation for your generosity, in addition to the above, you will receive:
- The opportunity to name one of our residencies in honor of a friend, a loved one, or even yourself (gifts renewed annually);
- Host an event with a provided Literature to Life performance (all additional costs to be covered by the donor).
