The 2009-2010 Season: Let's Keep Literature (A)live!

The 2009 - 2010 Season is in full swing. With two new selections from the tops of the best-seller lists, we invite audiences across the country to share in the experience of literature brought to vibrant life on the stage.

Thegiver.jpeg After 17 years of presentations for young adult audiences, The Giver, an award-winning selection by Lois Lowry, is our first young adult novel to be adapted as a Literature to Life presentation.  The book launched this Season to an ovation of activity in middle school classrooms across the city.  Its powerful message of freedom and privilege deeply resonate with readers and audiences, and more young people are being introduced to the author's work and writings through Literature to Life residencies carried on in school classrooms each week.three-cups-of-tea.jpg

Three Cups of Tea and its author Greg Mortenson are well-know by adult readers across the world, and it's no wonder given the inspiring true journey we uncover through the book co-authored by journalist David Oliver Relin.  Readers in communities across the globe are carrying this story in their hearts and following Greg's charge to play a role in helping educate young people everywhere.   The Literature to Life presentation of this book is rolling out throughout the season with partnerships in schools with Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble.  And plans for the 2010 Literature to Life Awards honoring Greg Mortenson are well underway.  Save the date for Tuesday May 18, 2010 for this once-in-a-lifetime event.
