The American Place Theatre, located just off Times Square, has been an important center of groundbreaking Off-Broadway theatre since it was founded by Artistic Director Wynn Handman in 1963. The American Place is in search of Interns in several of its departments for the 2002­ 2003 season.


LITERARY INTERN: Assisting the Artistic Director in artistic and development projects. Candidates should be familiar with the New York theatre, especially new plays and ethnic minority theatre, and be expert in playwrighting, dramaturgy or directing.

EDUCATION INTERN: Stage managing Education Department productions and assisting the Director of Education in administrating various education programs. Candidates should be familiar with the field of Educational Theatre.

ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN: Assisting the General Manager in the day-to-day operations of the theatre. Candidates should be familiar with contracts and budgets and be interested in Arts Administration.

TECHNICAL INTERN: Assisting the Production Manager in the operation of the theatre building. Candidates should be passionate about technical theatre.

DEVELOPMENT INTERN: Assisting the Director of Development in grant writing and other forms of fundraising. Some experience in institutional fundraising is required.
